(If the long sequence move involves both empty tableaus and free cells, it is often called supermove.)

5. If it is possible, fill an empty tableau space with a long descending sequence that begins with a King.

6. Do not to move cards to the home cells too quickly. You may need these cards later to maneuver lower cards of other suits.

Some Freecell Solitaire deals are solvable very quickly, while others take more time to solve. Replaying the same shuffles in a number of different ways will allow completing the most difficult ones. The more you play the more games you are able to complete. How Spider Solitaire is scored.

The game starts you out with 500 points and deducts a point for each move (and adds 1 to the moves counter). As each of the 8 families (same suit ace – king) is completed, 100 points are added to the score. Therefore Spider Solitaire’s Best Score has the fewest moves plus 800 points.

Let’s play a hypothetical game.

To show you how to accomplish the best possible Spider Solitaire score, I will play a hypothetical game. The order in which the cards are dealt is critical in attaining the best score. Refer to the following table as I play the game. The odds of being dealt this hand are greater than astronomical, and you would never know it without dealing all reserve cards first.

Note: All cards from the reserve pile are dealt:

1. Begin from the left side.
2. Place the blue 7 (and 2-6) on the blue 8. That exposes the blue ace.
3. Place the blue ace on the blue 2. That completes one family.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for the remaining families.
5. Starting from the right.
6. Place the red ace on the red 2 then the 2 on the 3 etc.
7. Continue right to left progressing up all the families.

To Recap:

Basically the cards are ordered so that the first 5 families are completed in 2 moves each (10 moves). The remaining 3 families are completed by moving the exposed cards to their logical place exposing cards in the bind as you go. Each family requires 12 moves to place the cards in order (36 moves). Total 46 moves required to win this hypothetical game.

500 – 46 + 800 = 1,254

4. Build on higher cards first

Among the “out of suit” builds, start with those of highest rank. The reason for this is apparent. You can not move “out of suit” build as a unit to another pile. So this build is of no use except as a temporary storage for cards from other piles. If we start with low card, the build will be finished with an Ace very quickly and then it will be useless. Starting from higher cards allows us to get maximum advantage from it.

5. Get as many cards exposed and arranged in suit order as possible before dealing the next 10 cards from the stock

Otherwise your chances of winning are significantly reduced.

6. As soon as you remove a suit, arrange the remaining cards into “natural builds”

Use empty piles as temporary storage when rearranging cards.

Spend some time practicing this strategy and soon you will find yourself beating Spider Solitaire faster and more often.

There are two basic ways to deal cards from the stock in this game: player deals either the cards at a time, or only one card is dealt at a time. The recommendations given above are applicable to both variations. The only difference for the “deal three at a time” variation is that you have to pay close attention to the order of the cards in the order of cards in the deck. Some people suggest dealing all the cards to the waste pile once without making any moves and remember the order of the cards in the deck.

First of all, this article will probably strike some of you the wrong way, but for others, this article will be exactly what you need to hear and act as a catalyst for change.

Solitaire is one of the biggest productivity killers around. I worked full time doing technical support and in between waiting for calls to come in. I’m ashamed to say I probably wasted at least 3 hours per day or more on this game. Multiple that by 5 days per week and about 50 weeks per year, that’s about 750 hours per year of Solitaire. Ouch!

I coach people right now that are getting started with ecommerce and the complaint seems to always be that they don’t have enough time. Although I don’t make a huge point about it, I often wonder if they watch a lot of TV or play a few rounds of Solitaire before getting started with their “homework” or task list from our previous coaching session. I suspect that there is a lot of Solitaire playing and probably just as much TV watching. Probably quite a few people can multi-task and do both. I know I did… watching X-Files on my computer while playing Solitaire was my vice.

I came to a state of conscious awareness that I was literally wasting my life away. I made a decision to never play again and I haven’t since that day. But like any “bad habit” if you don’t replace that time with something else, you’re going to revert back by conditioning. So, here’s what I propose: Another game!

Enter the concept of real life Monopoly. The risks are greater, the rewards are real and the intensity is significant compared to anything else. I’m making a comparison between the board game Monopoly and then the concept of building up your own real estate empire. This doesn’t have to be in the form of actual real estate as an investor or anything quite so dramatic. This can be as simple as claiming your piece of internet real estate by creating a website, driving traffic to that website and making sales or making money from that website.

Internet business can be learned by just about anyone. I’ve seen websites run by 12 year old kids doing more sales than several of my students. The internet is a place where you can learn all the concepts you need to and a place where you can get detailed instructions on how to play the “game“.

When I quit playing Solitaire, I decided instead to dedicating my time to how I could best profit from the internet. I started with “Baltic Avenue” ideas such as selling some misc. junk on eBay for a few hundred dollars and eventually graduated to a $25,000 per month “Marvin Gardens”. Now, get started with something like eBay if you need to generate some capital to get your first web hosting account setup and your first domain name, but also know that the instruction manual on how to play the game is always available. You may need to learn how to read this manual (i.e. Google, the internet, Yahoo Answers, etc). Once you learn how to read the manual (get your answers from the internet), you will have no shortage of information on how to play the game, how to avoid costly mistakes and how to transfer the distraction and zombie-like clicking of your mouse while playing Solitaire to the exciting, motivating, experience of the highs and lows of internet business.

Reality is that you only have so much time in this life. Why waste it playing Solitaire? Go out there, experience whatever you can and get some skin in the game. Ask anybody that has a bet on a game how much more interesting and emotionally attached they are to that game than someone who is merely watching to teams play not caring for the outcome either way…

Quit playing Solitaire. I’m here to tell you that “Real Life Monopoly” is much better in every way.
